Another Month, another Plinther, it would seem again. Following Anna, Robbe and Sarah, there is now Jensen!

So that's 4 friends that I know that will have ascended the 4th Plinth in Trafalgar Square. 4 friends out of 2400 participants. If we work that out, it is 0.167% of the participants. If we extrapolate this sample to the wider population of the UK (estimated at 61,383,000), this means that I should be friends with 0.167% of the population or 102,509.61 people. This is far from the case, as if you would be surprised.

Anyway, back to Jensen. He'll be on the 4th Plinth Saturday 3rd October 2009 from 7pm until 8pm. To find out about Jensen's journey, visit his One & Other page.

Jensen's Plinth journey also includes his trek back to Liverpool which you can find out more on his blog.

Good luck Jensen! I'll be watching.

Another weekend, another Plinther, it would seem. At this rate everyone I know will have been on the Plinth by the end of Tuesday. Yes that's right - I know at least three people who have or will have (delete as appropriate) cavorted giddily atop the Fourth Plinth for one hour for the One & Other project.

Firstly in July there was Anna (see this post), then just an hour or so ago there was Robbe (see this post) and now there is Sarah! (see this very post that you are reading for more).

Sarah has applied in the past and several hours ago she found out that she will be on the Plinth this very Sunday morning from 7am until 8am. Woo Hoo. Excitement all around.

Congratulations Sarah!

Sarah's One & Other page is little light on info at the moment and I'm not sure exactly what she will be doing in Trafalgar Square (other than being on a raised platform, or "Plinth" as I like to call it, and I think the name may catch on). To find out more about Sarah visit her blog or check out Twitter.

So be ready to get up early on Sunday 27th September 2009, or just put God off for an hour or so and watch Sarah from 7am until 8am. Then maybe go for pancakes, it is your Sunday after all.

Another month, another Plinther. As you may already know I have already had one friend ascend the 4th Plinth in Trafalgar Square (see this post) and now I can announce that I am forcing another friend up into the upper atmosphere. Well, not really. Robbe Law put his name forward for the random draw. Okay so that means if you put your name forward it isn't entirely random - it isn't exactly like they are forcing random people off the street up there for an hour.

Anyway, Robbe will be going up the Plinth on 25th September, 2009 at 10pm until 11pm. Click on the link for Robbe's official One & Other page.

Robbe will be reading both his own poetry and works from other poets that were suggested to him via his blog. You can find the updated list of poems that will be read along with various dedications here.

So stay tuned to the One & Other site on 25 September for some great poetry.

I'll be watching, will you?

Sculptor Antony Gormley invited people from the UK to help create a living monument in London by having individuals occupy the empty Fourth Plinth in Trafalgar Square. Each individual will occupy the Plinth for one hour, and be able to use the time as a platform for whatever they wish (as long as it is legal). As of this writing, there are over 27,000 applicants for the 2400 places that are available over the 100 days of the One & Other project.

My friend Anna, whom I met via Script Frenzy, was one of the first people to ascend to the Plinth in the First Week (July 9th, 2009 from 4 to 5 am). Anna decided to write 12 postcards to document her time on the Plinth.

So the call went out. Anna asked for people to put forward names of people who were deserving of a postcard. Knowing that I am selfless, you are no doubt not shocked that I offered my own name, as it's one of the few things that I own outright.

So with all the names submitted, it only left actually standing on the Plinth for one hour. You can see full hour video here.

I was amazed that I was actually selected for one of the postcards (my brief moment of fame comes @ 47 minutes into the video). I bet you aren't that surprised, given the title of the post. Anna has said that the recipients can do whatever they wish with the postcard, so I have decided to scan it and post it here, where very very few people will read it.

In case you can't read it. It says:

Matt!
They're beeping!
It's amazing. I can't
say words. You're the
last. With love
from the plinth,
Anna x

Because of my selfless and modest nature, I like to believe that even though part of the text reads: You're the last I like to believe that it does actually say: You're the best.

I'm pleased to get the postcard and it takes pride of place on my corkboard at work.

Liked that? Then share the (vegetarian) sausage links:
